Sahastradhara / Sahastradhara Waterfall
Here are thousands of natural water sources and watefall that’s why it is known as Sahastradhara. Original source of water continuously dripping throughout the year, which is surprising in itself and looks beautiful. In the summer season it would be one the best picnic spot for children to explore. While entering they charge you minor for parking if you have a personal vehicle. There are many restaurants beside the river offering variety of fast food and meals. Be careful, sometimes the flow of the river can be increased, especially in rainy season. In the summers this spot can usually be seen the high tourist volume and result in unclear water (unhygienic). Tourist come here from different states like Delhi, Chandigardh, Uttrapradesh and many others this shows the popularity of the Sahastradhara. Ropeway facility is also there providing an airy ride to the mountaintop. From the top one can enjoy the panoramic view of sahastradhara. It costs 200rs per person and it is worth buying it as the view from ropeway is stunning. Perfect time to visit this destination is spring season as the valley is colored in with lots of greenery and flowers in the season. Adventure park with many slides for children could make your visit fruitful and overall this place is perfect for all age groups. The famous Lord Shiva temple is also there and it is believed that Shri Dronacharya did penance to Lord Shiva. There is a sulfur spring known for the medicinal benifits and therapeutic value, sahastradhara has multi collection of water pools where water drips from huge limestone stalactites, turning to sulfur springs.

Is Sahastradhara worth visiting ?

Whole area is surrounded by natural beauty and green mountains. It will take almost 4 hours to visit the whole place and still some places will remain unexplored. In some places you can see the high waterfalls of about 10 ft dripping sulpur water which looks like rain as you can see them in picture.

Well the destination is situated in the mountains, so in the route of Sahastradhara there are may turns but they are safe as the approach road is good and good to drive. The destination is 15.2 km away from Clock tower which is at the heart of the city and 10 km from Dehradun railway station. In the way to Sahastradhara one can easily get the glimpse of Dehradun as the route includes main market and the natural beauty of the city.

Sahastradhara should be include in one of the best place to visit dehradun. i am from dehradun and considering the tourist opinion about the place it can be said that people like this place and always try to include it in their trip. every year the number of tourists in this destination is increasing and the reviews are always good. Being the native of Dehradun I can say that it is the best place for to explore.
