Robber's Cave/ Gucchupani Waterfall
One of the top most visited places by tourists in Dehradun. Robbers cave is also known as Gucchupani and the reason behind it is unknown. It is a one time must visit place with knee level water is always running between the giant limestone rocks of Himalayas.The tunnel like structure is about 600 meters long and the height of rocks is 10 meters. There are many waterfalls in the cave where you and enjoy, bath and have fun in the water. At the end of the cave water level is deep around 5 ft only. Always remember that when you are visiting the place, the pebbles are really sharp and could hurt your feet. So, be in comfortable clothing and always carry slippers, otherwise there are shops selling or giving slippers on rent. The place is all natural and you will definitely feel relaxed and find yourself close to the nature, but the entrance of the spot is man-made and create to attract tourists. Artificial swimming pool is also there with many slides for children to make the place perfect for children as well.
If anyone is seeking peace or silence surrounding, this place is not for you. It can include in the picnic trip or any exploring unique destination. It is said that earlier this was the spot for robbers to hide money, expensive items or themselves from being caught.

Yes, Gucchupani is perfect one time visit destination, especially for children and adults. Water passing through rocks at knee level and various waterfalls makes the places worth visiting. The whole area is surrounded by natural beauty and green mountains. It will take almost 3 hours to visit the whole place, but beware of the fact that pebbles in the river can spoil your visit, so always carry sleepers with you. If you are thinking of a place to explore surrounded by nature and people this might be the best choice, for your children it just perfect.

Destination is not too far from the city and easy to reach. It is near to army area or cantt and The spot is 8 km away from the heart of the city (Clock tower) and 9 km from Dehradun railway station. while approaching to Gucchupani you will not feel you are going to any such nature closed destination and road is good.
History of Robbers cave.
Gachhu Pani is a large limestone region in Dehradun. Such caves could be found at Dehradun's Sahastradhara. Gucchu pani (Robber's Cave) is a tiny valley also known as Nero Gauge Cave, and it is an example of selected stone architecture. Robbers utilise Robber's Cave to hide from the British in the late 1800s and it seems so when you walk around there. Because of the natural and environmental condition of this cave, the thieves found it easier to hideout here. The maze tunnels were ideal for thieves to shelter in, therefore the title "Robber's Cave".People says that the area was explored by burglars to conceal their widespread looting. Many tourist visit this place after reading the history and get excited to explore such destination.

I recently visited the place and It was really amazing to explore such destinations though i am not a fan of such crowded place but exploring here was different experience. I recommend everyone to visit the place and have fun in water with family and friends.
